Experience as an eBayer

Hi Y'all, Larry here, I wanted to share some of my experience as an eBayer for the past 3 years.

First, I want to get out of the way that I am not a reseller. Moreso, I am the youngest in my family, so anytime we needed clothes, toys, electronics, we would get them from family. I started eBay, as I figured it would probably be more profitable than simply having a yard sale, and I figured some items I had are probably worth something.

Biggest thing I could say about eBay is that start small. List a few items and check out some YouTube videos on selling from the past year, policies and fees change all the time. Learn how much shipping costs and how much fees will be. I had sold some items and actually lost a few bucks when I started eBay. I only did that at the start, and I haven't lost profit on an item since. Also, eBay is not passive income, It's entirely the opposite unless you have someone helping you. As a seller, you need to post items, sell them, pack them up, and ensure they get scanned in by the post office. I have dropped stuff off and they never actually get scanned in. In that case, there wasn't anything I could do other than give my client a refund, because it is my job to ensure a package gets to it's destination, and without an acceptance scan, if it gets lost it's on me. Ultimately though, I have done eBay, Doordash, and two separate jobs. I definitely prefer eBay to Doordash as a side hustle, but that is what it basically is. You can make some good money with eBay, but you get out what you put in, and unless you have a bunch of stuff you want to sell already, I would recommend getting a regular job instead, as you will probably make more. The profit margin is not very high, and if you have a lot of items, but you make over 50k a year, just have a yard sale. Don't spend $100 of brain energy to try and make 5 bucks. eBay is a good side hustle, but that's just it... it should be a side hustle. You get out what you put in.

For a while, I got the question, "why don't you start your non-profit now?" and the biggest reason, is due to me being a full time student, and usually working one to two jobs at a time. Anytime I was
